Partial strong convexity
Web19 Dec 2024 · This paper generalizes results concerning strong convexity of two-stage mean-risk models with linear recourse to distortion risk measures. Introducing the concept of (restricted) partial strong convexity, we conduct an in-depth analysis of the expected excess functional with respect to the decision variable and the threshold parameter. WebThe duality of strong convexity and strong smoothness was first used by Shalev-Shwartz and Singer [2006], Shalev-Shwartz [2007] in the context of deriving low regret online algorithms. Here, once we choose a particular strongly con-vex penalty function, we immediately have a family of algo-rithms along with a regret bound for these algorithms ...

We study relationships between these two concepts, neither of which is generally weaker or stronger than the other one. For our algorithmic …

First derivative of the above is: ∂ P ∂ Y T M = 1 ( 1 + Y T M / 2) ∑ i = 1 N − 2 t i C F i ( 1 + Y T M / 2) 2 t i. Second derivative (aka convexity) of the Price function is:
Web1 mainly comes from the calculation of the partial gradient with respect to Z, whose time complexity is O(rd2). Therefore, our algorithm has a per-iteration complexity of O(rd2). 4 Main Theory We present our main theory in this section, which characterizes the convergence rate of Algorithm 1, and the statistical rate of its output. Web28 Dec 2013 · In particular, nonlinear methods via entropy and convexity have been playing an increasingly important role in the analysis of nonlinear partial differential equations in recent decades. This opening article of the Theme Issue is intended to provide an introduction to entropy, convexity and related nonlinear methods for the analysis of …
Web3 Jul 2024 · In other words, a strongly convex function is lower bounded by a quadratic (instead of linear like convex functions). Hence, we have a tighter lower bound. Actually, several possible quadratic lower bounds since there can be more than one subgradient.
Webpartial strong convexity of the saddle point functional [49]. Randomized versions of the alternating direction method of multipliers are discussed, for instance, in [54, 25]. In contrast to other works on stochastic primal-dual algorithms [35, 52], our analysis is not based on Fej\'er monotonicity [16].
